Alexander Raquepo, Ilocos Sur: Pacquiao was fast, awesome and skillful. Margarito, on the other hand, was a warrior. He remained standing until the end of the fight.
Jose Hernani Parco, Metro Manila: Oh well, what can I tell you? Pacquiao turned a tornado into a gentle breeze and made margaritas out of Margarito.
Greatest boxer
Lolong Rejano, Marinduque: Again, I saw Manny?s determination to win, just like in his previous fights. His spirit was always high, but he remained very humble. Manny is by far the greatest fighter in boxing history.
Lydia Reyes, Bataan: Both did their best. Pacman proved he is the greatest boxer of all time.
J.R. Mondonedo Jr., Para?aque City: Manny Pacquiao is just too great a boxer that once he retires, boxing will never be the same again. I knew from the third round that Pacquiao would win. But in fairness to Margarito, he was also a tough warrior.
Elmo Cruz, Manila: Pacquiao had already established before that he is the best boxer of the last 50 years, eclipsing the records of Muhammad Ali and Sugar Ray Leonard. But still, he seems to be going further despite his greater responsibility as a congressman.
Roger Caravana, Bulacan: The Pacquiao-Margarito fight could be considered one of the best fights of Manny. He executed all his boxing skills with precision.
Juan Deveraturda, Subic, Zambales: Manny Pacquiao?s victory once again brings pride, prestige, and honor to our country and the Filipino people. Pacquiao is truly a gift and a blessing to the Filipino nation, which is always looking for a modern-day hero who could inspire and motivate people to strive hard to achieve their dream of greatness, success, and fame. No doubt, in the world of boxing, Manny is one of the greatest!
Wrong prediction
Rey Ibalan, Antipolo City: I was wrong when I said Manny is in danger of losing to Margarito, being taller and heavier. Pacman is an incredible boxer.
No surprise
Valerie Joyce Go, Tacloban City: It was clear from the start that Manny would win the fight. He was very impressive as usual.
Dennis Montealto, Mandaluyong City: It was lopsided from the start, with our hero as the top dog.
Cris Rivera, Rizal: Pacquiao was sure to win. He never showed signs of complacency and prepared really well for the fight.
Lorenzo Fernandez Jr., Cabanatuan City: I predicted earlier that Pacman would win because I?ve seen the pattern based on his recent fights.
Proud Pinoy moment
Ignacio Anacta, Metro Manila: The Pacquiao-Margarito fight was perhaps the greatest fight Manny has ever won because his opponent was stronger, bigger, and deeply motivated. Manny personifies true Filipino values: Bravery, determination to win against all odds, humility, and strong faith in God.
Rey Onate, Palayan City: Pacquiao won unanimously. Mabuhay ang pangkaraniwang Pinoy!
Velmor Angelo Arradaza, Quezon City: Once again, I can hold up my head up high and tell the world proudly that I am a Filipino. Congrats to Pacman and thank you for all the glory you?ve been giving to our country.
Epic fight
Ricardo Tolentino, Laoag City: The fight is a classic and will go down in history as one of the best. It showed how the Pinoy Pacman can tame a Mexican tornado.
Louella Brown, Baguio City: I think the Pacquiao-Margarito fight was a great fight for both boxers with the latter fighting till the 12th round.
L.C. Fiel, Quezon City: The lopsided difference in height, weight, reach, etc. only made this historical fight more challenging for our Pambansang Kamao.
Armando Tavera, Las Pi?as City: Both Pacquiao and Margarito delivered the goods excellently. Walang itulak kabigin. In the end, Pacquiao came out the better boxer.
Manuel Abejero, Pangasinan: An epic fight. The Tijuana Tornado was not actually a swirling whirlwind but just a shallow low pressure area without any chance of becoming a typhoon in front of Pacquiao. The Mexicans must be gnashing their teeth for the defeat of another brave Mexican warrior. While they were still expecting for that lucky punch from Margarito to down the Pacman by not throwing in the towel in the ninth round, the Pacman delivered more punches that turned the face of Margarito into a twisted wreck. Congratulations, Manny!
Miguelito Herrera, Cabanatuan City: He didn?t knock out Margarito and Pacquiao admits it was difficult, but it was the best fight ever.
Recipe for victory
Jesus Mendoza, Pangasinan: The Pacquiao-Margarito fight proves that preparation, speed, accuracy and skills can overcome the odds.
Germi Sison, Cabanatuan City: Manny Pacquiao never won a fight without sweat, sacrifice, determination, methodology and dedication to his profession. May all Filipinos learn a thing or two from Manny.
Bravo!
Bituin Leoncio, Genoa, Italy: Compliments to Manny P. Bravisssimo!
Carmi Reyes, Metro Manila: Wow, mabuhay si Pacquiao! Bravo!
Elizabeth Oximer, Negros Occidental: Tornado pala ha! Kaso torpedo ang tumama kay Margarito.
Cris Rivera, Rizal: Long live Manny Pacquiao, the only boxer in the world to capture eight championships belts in various divisions!
Gerardo Diaz Lopez, Metro Manila: A job well done! Bravo!
Nice try
Renato Taylan, Ilocos Norte: I rightly guessed that the bull-strong Margarito would try but fail to catch and finish Pacquiao with power shots on the body and head.
Looking for a KO win
Menor Jun, Gattaran, Cagayan: The best sana kung napatumba niya si Margarito. Mas convincing sana ang pagka-panalo niya, di ba?
Jose Fabello Jr., Cagayan de Oro City: Witnessing Margarito still standing after 12 rounds, a Pacman defeat soon is a stark possibility given that the 400-plus power punches thrown turned out to be duds after all.
Salute to Margarito
Dr. Gen Padilla, Valenzuela City: Margarito is the greatest, the greatest punching bag that Pacquiao ever had. After 474 power punches, he was still standing! OMG!
Felix Ramento, USA: My heart went to Margarito who bravely took all the beating from Pacquiao. And Pacman displayed his kind heart, too. This could easily be the ?Fight of the Year.?
Lucas Banzon Madamba, Laguna: Antonio Margarito really gave Manny Pacquiao one of the greatest fights in his boxing career. It was another hard-earned triumph for Pacquiao who only won by unanimous decision. I admire Antonio Margarito for his wholehearted and never-say-die spirit until the very end.
Warning to future challengers
Teddie Briones, Zamboanga City: The fight that should be a lesson for everyone who wishes to fight Manny ?Pacman? Pacquiao.
Joe Nacilla, Las Pi?as City: The happiest person on earth on that particular day, Nov. 13 (14th Manila time), 2010 was Mayweather. If he did not run away with a hidden tail, he could have had the face of Margarito. He should now keep silent and accept that Pacquiao is the pound-for-pound king.
A true sportsman
Rudy Tagimacruz, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon: Pacquiao is fearless but not a savage boxer. He won?t seriously hurt an opponent. It?s obvious when he signaled the referee that Margarito already had enough.
Ruel Bautista, Laguna: Pacman could have inflicted more harm but again opted to show compassion to a proud but already weak man. He let Margarito finish the fight standing.
Robert Young Jr., San Juan: It?s no surprise that Pacquiao won; he was everyone?s favorite. What impressed me about the fight is Manny?s gallantry. He asked the referee to check Margarito?s eyes during the last rounds when he was clearly winning. After the fight, he also told a newsman he wished Margarito?s camp stopped the fight during the tenth round when Margarito was clearly clobbered.
Pedro Alagano Sr., Vigan City: Manny Pacquiao demonstrated his good side when he did not punish further the ?Mexican Tornado? since he knew pretty well that he was winning the bout. This gesture should be emulated by other boxers.
Time to retire
Ella Arenas, Pangasinan: It wasn?t a knockout but it?s okay because Pacman won by unanimous decision. Pacman proved that height or reach advantage doesn?t matter as long as one is prepared. I think he should retire na so he can still enjoy his billions and while he?s got the best record in boxing.
Deo Durante, Camarines Sur: It was a great fight and Manny proved once more that Filipinos are a force to reckon with in boxing. My unsolicited advice, however, is for Manny to retire now because he has already reached the peak of his career and perhaps no one in the history of boxing can match his record.
Finest hour
Ishmael Calata, Para?aque City: It?s Manny?s finest hour ever. Let?s face it, he is not that young anymore, yet he went inside the ring with the footwork and agility of the young Pacman we knew. He defied any doubt about his ability to defeat a much taller, heavier and very much prepared Mexican warrior in the person of the much ballyhooed Tijuana Tornado, Antonio Margarito. It was a feat for those who thought that being a lawmaker and a boxer at the same time is not possible.
Humble pie
Denny Mu?oz, Metro Manila: Manny Pacquiao is a true sportsman. He?s the type of person that protects whoever is close to him his family, friends, his coach and his fellowmen. Whenever Manny says, ?Para sa iyo ang laban na ito?, referring to his country, he delivers that message through his punches. Manny also sent this message to Antonio Margarito when the Mexican ?Goliath? made fun of Freddie Roach?s Parkinson?s disease. Those 411 punches Manny unloaded mostly on Margarito?s face are clear indications that Manny was teaching Margarito what is called ?humility?.
Mex-ecutioner
Rico Fabello, Para?aque City: The world is losing good Mexican fighters. Climate change, perhaps?
Raymar Gurrea, Bacolod City: Pacquiao is the real tormentor of Mexican boxers as evidenced by his recent winning over Margarito. What a good fight the two boxers gave.
Darius Manabat, Makati City: Is ?murdered? the right word to describe the fight? Hahaha!
Lacking in strategy
Elpidio Que, Vigan: Margarito did not know how to use his height and reach to defeat Pacquiao, so unlike boxing?s greatest Muhammad Ali. Instead of boxing Manny from a distance, he instead brawled and was only able to give slow punches.
Stay at his weight
William Gonzaga, Marikina City: It was absolutely a one-sided bout where Pacquiao was the heavy favorite. However, boxing analysts were unanimous that Pacquiao must never again fight in such heavier weight division where victory may bring him severe injuries that may incapacitate him for life. Anyway, he has already achieved an amazing record that even the self-esteemed Floyd Mayweather Jr. can never equal nor surpass in his lifetime.
Increase budget for sports
Dr. Jose Balcanao, Benguet: The great fight manifests the fact that Filipinos are great fighters not only in times of war but also in sports. If only our government could allocate more budget for sports competitions, then our athletes could bring home more gold or silver medals.
Calling out Mayweather
Luisito Vallo, Pangasinan: It was a superb boxing show that was put up by the Pacman and I believe, with that performance, Mayweather would continue dodging Manny.
Desuel Pardo, Mandaluyong City: With his overwhelming victory over Antonio Margarito, Manny had already ?pakyaw-ed? all his possible opponents. Pretty Boy Floyd Mayweather, the only man standing in the way, is no longer pretty because he has millions of reasons to avoid Manny.
Dino Monzon, Caloocan City: The Pacquiao-Margarito fight was worth waiting for. Margarito is a worthier foe than Clottey. I hope Manny destroys Mayweather next.
Kudos to Quinito
L.C. Fiel, Quezon City: Congratulations to Quinito Henson who always comes out with the best analysis before every Pacman fight. I enjoy reading his piece the day after the fight. Keep it up!
