BARRERA & THE NO BRAINER..Marco Antonio Barrera is living in a fantasy world if he thinks he can make the leap from his perch at 130 lbs. to the lightweight limit of 135 and beat WBA titleholder Juan Diaz. Boxing fans, the Mexican superstar is quite fortunate he isn?t being forced into a fight with newly crowned WBO guy Jorge Barrios. Guys like Erik Morales and Manny Pacquiao, these two men are not natural lightweights, or even jr. lightweights for that matter. Marco started at 115 lbs, Pacquiao 112 lbs, and Morales began his mighty run at 122 lbs. Barrios, best known prior to Friday for his 2003 knockdown fest with then lightweight king Acelino Freitas, he would be far stronger than anybody Marco has faced. But unlike the aforementioned trio, Jorge?s coming down to 130. Although Juan and Marco are both listed at 5?6, the aggression and natural size (body mass) of the ?Baby Bull? would dwarf Barrera before putting an old-fashioned big guy vs. little guy whipping on Marco?AZ SCRIBE NOW ASKING QUESTIONS?Arizona Republic writer Norm Frauenheim penned a column Monday morning which echoed the Joe Diaz initiated charges I first trumpeted against Arizona Boxing Director John Montano and Promoter Peter Mc Kinn. Norm reports after talking with all of the parties involved, including former 1964 Cy Young award winner, the current IBA President Dean Chance, that Montano sat on a $500 check Peter Mc Kinn bounced in May of 2004.
