We still do not know a hell of a lot about Amir Khan. His matches have been on the other side of the ocean which always leads to suspicion about the quality of his opponents. Breidis Prescott knocked him out in one round in a surprising upset after a sterling amateur career and championship belt. But suddenly he has been transformed into a raging lion since teaming up with the popular and media claimed greatest coach Freddie Roach. Having been the sparring partner for Manny Pacquiao and a media darling at the wild card gym has made him the next coming of a great fighter or so the media proclaims. Whispers about fighting Floyd Mayweather instead of Pacquiao can only draw snickers as they try to make Khan a cash cow. His desire to unify one thing or another resounds with the kind of wishful thinking that can be allowed when there is still a lot more to prove. The magic man was not the test to turn around the thinking about Amir Khan. While Paulie is from Brooklyn and has the heart of a real tough guy better days are behind him and his retirement is probably going to occur soon. His boxing skills are phenomenal but he needs power to gain respect and he does not have it. Khan on the other hand could not put him away and the stoppage was more for future gates and the legend of king Khan than anything else. So the book is still open as to what this guy can really do when in the ring with someone that can punch. His next bout is against Marcos Maidana a hard puncher and one of the many opponents that are available to face him. Until he beats a real contender he will remain the best known sparring partner for Manny Pacquiao.
