?It?s time to retire?

AFTER winning another world title in an unprecedented eighth division, Manny Pacquiao has achieved what no one else has in the boxing.

At 31, he also showed he is still at his peak and is good for a few more fights.

However, even if the Filipino boxing icon is still at his best, ALA Promotions president Michael Aldeguer believes the pound-for-pound king should call it a career and focus on the other aspects of his life.

?Manny should retire. He has nothing more to prove. He has done so much for his country. Manny doesn?t need (Floyd) Mayweather Jr. Winning an eighth world title will never be surpassed,? Aldeguer told Sun.Star Cebu.

Aldeguer was once again impressed with the performance of Pacquiao yesterday at the Cowboys Stadium in Texas and believes the fight should have been stopped.

?They should have stopped the fight. To simply say it: Manny is from a different planet, what he did to a legitimate middleweight is unheard of in boxing. Manny is even better now than before and Mayweather knows it, that is why he will never fight Manny,? Aldeguer said.

During the 11th round, Pacquiao looked to referee Laurence Cole at least three times, as if asking him to stop the fight.

ALA Gym head coach Edito Villamor and standout AJ Banal don?t share their boss?s idea and believe Pacquiao should continue fighting.

Villamor believes Pacquiao should at least have one more fight, before hanging his gloves, to cement his legacy as one of the greatest fighters of all time.

That one fight, of course, is what all fans are talking about.

Complete

?The sport of boxing won?t be complete if Pacman vs. Mayweather won?t happen because that is the fight all the boxing fans around the world have been waiting for. So it?s a must that both of them should fight,? said Villamor.

Banal, on the other hand, thinks that a fight between Pacquiao and either Mayweather or Shane Mosley would be a fight worth watching.

?As I see it, he is still okay to continue his great career because he still has it,? said the 21-year-old world-rated fighter.

Meanwhile, aside from Pacquiao, two other Pinoy warriors also made the country proud by winning their bouts in the undercard.

Dennis Laurente scored a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Rashad Halloway, while former world title challenger Ritchie Mepranum escaped a tight split decision over Anthony Villareal.

Laurente clobbered Halloway from the start to finish to win, 77-75, 79-73 and 78-74. Laurente improved to 36-3-5 with 18 knockouts while Halloway fell to 11-2-2 with five knockouts.
