The MOTHER Officers and members asked the Congressman to sponsor the modified MOTHER bill, espousing the establishment of preventive programs against most forms of crimes committed against women and children.
The MOTHER Movement contends that these crimes do not happen by accident; these are intentionally-inflicted by opportunistic criminals.
With the MOTHER preventive measure, crimes such as physical abuse, sexual harassment including rape, human trafficking, domestic violence and other preventable offenses would be addressed. Based on the principle that self-defense is an instinct that needs to be developed, the MOTHER bill mandates to include basic self protection training in the physical education curriculum of all school levels, programs in the workplace, as well as a crash hands-on training course for overseas workers.
One of the goals of the Movement is to convene the International Conference on Self-Protection which seeks to dig deeper into the root cause of the problem and treat this society?s illness from the cause and not just the symptoms. The Conference is envisioned to be attended by professionals in various disciplines: psychologists, social workers, self-defense experts and others.
