Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia yesterday urged Bacole?os to pray and support boxing icon Manny Pacquiao in his November 14 fight (Phil. time) against Mexican boxer Antonio Margarito.
As member of the Team Pacquiao, Leonardia has filed his leave from office starting Nov. 10 and has appointed Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson as acting mayor until he returns.
He said he has informed Pacquiao that in Bacolod, several areas will provide a live telecast of the fight.
When asked if he will still hold one of the Pacquiao?s championship belts, Leonardia said he does not want to assume, but that is how it has always been.
He said that during Pacquiao?s last fight versus Miguel Cotto, he was given by Pacquiao the last belt he had won since there were more hoping to be belt holders than available belts.
Pacquiao told them ?Kay Mayor Bing ito, huwag nyo pakialaman?, he added.*CGS
