This Saturday Showtime?s Super Six tournament picks itself up after a number of setbacks as new entrant Glen Johnson takes on the almost-as-new Allan Green. Johnson steps into the tourney after Andre Dirrell bowed out after supposed neurological conditions. At this point in time it?s hard to still buy into the ?whoa is me, I never get a break? tagline Johnson often associates himself with, seeing that in his long career the man has managed to secure fights with Roy Jones, Bernard Hopkins, Antonio Tarver twice, Chad Dawson twice, and now his reward for losing a close decision in his last fight against Tarvoris Cloud is a spot in the Super Six. Nonetheless, he?s certainly a welcome entry, and few would argue he?s any less worthy being included than Allan Green, so let?s see how the two match up against each other.
Johnson does not have particularly special speed, power, or boxing ability, but he does have an excellent chin and work rate. His focus is also very solid. He?s beaten some of the best, and just about all of the fights he didn?t win he was still very competitive in. Johnson?s big flaws going into this fight will be the question marks lingering over his head. He?s been campaigning at light-heavyweight the past ten years and is now moving down in weight to 168. The move down in weight could have a severely negative affect as we?ve seen so often in the past with fighters such as Roy Jones and Oscar de la Hoya. And at forty-one years old and eighteen years as a professional the feeling is that Johnson could get old overnight on any night. Will it be this night against Allan Green?
