After a pretty uneventful second half of the year, the city of Las Vegas was finally able to get a taste of world class boxing with last night?s Juan Manuel Lopez-Rafael Marquez card at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Lopez would successfully defend his WBO featherweight crown with an 8th round stoppage over Marquez and seems to be in line for a 2011 meeting with Yurirorkis Gamboa this summer if everything goes according to plan.
During the week of the fight there were several other storylines taking place, such as super middleweight Lucian Bute?s arrival to the city to announce an exclusive deal with Showtime, Puerto Rican legend Felix ?Tito? Trinidad being in town to show support to Lopez, a pre-fight scuffle involving Celestino Caballero and members from Lopez? team, the amazing longevity of Glen ?The Road Warrior? Johnson and more.
