MANILA, Philippines – Top Rank?s main man Bob Arum, who?s into boxing promotions half his life, couldn?t believe his eyes looking at the fight odds for the Nov. 13 showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito.
?The odds are totally crazy,? Arum said.
Pacquiao remained the heavy favorite so close to the fight and based on the odds the only way he could lose this one is if he doesn?t show up at the Cowboys Stadium on fight night.
The latest coming out of the online betting stations like bet.us.com has Pacquiao at -650 (meaning you need $650 just to win a hundred bucks) and Margarito at +425 (meaning $100 wins $425).
Just over a week ago, Pacquiao was at -525 and Margarito at +325.
Arum said the odds are not a clear reflection of how the fight would go.
Last Monday, Arum, who promotes both Pacquiao and Margarito, said the Filipino champion is in danger of losing because of all the distractions and extra curricular activities while training.
?If the fight happened on Saturday Margarito will win the fight. He (Pacquiao) should stop all these nonsense,? was Arum?s alarming statement.
He believes that the odds should be closer than what the oddsmakers are saying.
?This fight should be only 2 1/2 to one and not five or six to one. It?s crazy. That?s just Filipinos betting on Manny,? said Arum.
And once the Mexican money comes in then the odds should get closer.
