Pacman skips casino gig

Manny Pacquiao has opted to skip a visit to the Barona Resort and Casino in San Diego, California, scheduled Sunday night so he could fully concentrate on his buildup for the Nov. 13 faceoff with Antonio Margarito on Nov. 13 in Dallas, Texas. Pacquiao?s Canadian consiglieri, Mike Koncz, told fightnews that a Filipino-American friend of Pacquiao had apparently promised Barona officials that the Filipino pound-for-pound king would grace an event set at 9 p.m. and then engage in a meet-and-greet with fans from 10-11 p.m.

?This is a very crucial phase of Manny?s training and I am truly sorry for casino officials that Manny won?t be able to attend,? said Koncz, declining to name the alleged Team Pacquiao member. ?Likewise, the men behind this event just did not go through the right channels,? said Koncz.

Koncz said it would be difficult for Pacquiao ?to travel back to Los Angeles from San Diego at that late hour and wake up early for roadwork.?

?It?s just bad timing considering that Manny is in the thick of training for a fight that is not a joke,? added Koncz.

Pacquiao was set to take a Philippine Airlines flight for Los Angeles Saturday night to start the final three weeks of training at the Wild Card in Hollywood.

Earlier, Pacquiao sparred a total of ten rounds with Amir Khan and Michael Medina.
