The matchup between the pound for pound king Manny Pacquiao and Mexico’s Antonio Margarito has taken a few hits from some boxing sites out there. There are a few writers out there that do not approve of this fight and have even taken it so far as to threaten to not cover it. I will believe that one when I see it, but nonetheless, it’s what is being said. I haven’t seen this much crying about a fight since my 2nd grade lunch class at Lakeview Elementary School.
Pacquiao Vs. Margarito should be pretty exciting for the first 5 rounds or so. If you like fireworks, you will like the first half of this fight. I do believe however that as the rounds go on, Pacquiao will eventually take control and ultimately win this fight.
OK, so yes we all know that Margarito was caught trying to cheat. He was given permission to fight now, and he’s Pacquiao’s next opponent. It is what it is, so the fight goes on. Pacquiao has a chance to be judge and jury on November, 13th and perhaps he can deliver a little “get back” unto Tony for guys like Miguel Cotto.
I’m looking forward to seeing this fight. Margarito’s size and reach advantage leaves just enough mystery in this fight to say, hmmmmmm. More than likely Pacquiao will cruise to a victory, but hey you never know what can happen.
You know what this writer finds EXTREMELY hypocritical? There is one writer out there who has been stomping his feet and kicking and screaming about how bad a man Manny Pacquiao is for taking this fight against Margarito. The same writer has been pitching a tempter fit about Margarito’s cheating and how he should never be allowed to fight again, yet that same writer has nothing but praise and glory for Mike Tyson?
The writer in question has boldly predicted and put in headlines, (citing no sources) a Mike Tyson comeback. He writes about how great it would be for Tyson to return to the ring. Forgive me if I am wrong, but wasn’t Tyson the guy that ripped the ear off of the side of Evander Holyfield’s head with his teeth? So, we praise Mike Tyson and welcome him back but Manny Pacquiao is a disgrace for taking the fight Vs. Margarito? Figure that one out folks.
I agree with the writer that Margarito should have been banned for life. The fact of the matter is, he was not banned for life. He was granted a license to fight in Texas, and Arum made the fight. It is what it is, and the two fighters will be Margarito Vs. Pacquiao. Now that the fight is made, we should watch it and see if Manny can deliver some good guy Vs. bad guy justice.
OK, so I took this topic into my favorite sports bar, “Time Out Lounge” in Jackson, MS. I tossed the topic of Margarito and his cheating and compared it to Tyson’s behavior in the ring. I spoke with Joel Youngblood of Morton, Mississippi and got his thoughts, ” If anyone is crying about Margarito Vs. Pacquiao yet they welcome a Tyson comeback, they are an idiot. Isn’t Tyson the one who was convicted of rape and spent time in prison?”
