MEET THE ?RING TALK? JUDGES FOR ERIK-MANNY!
Las Vegas, NV- While both Erik Morales and Manny Pacquiao certainly both deserve all the praise and adulation bestowed upon the pair after their 12-rounder earlier tonight in the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the same cannot be said for the three Judges that gave Morales the fight 115-113 across the board. I had it for Pacquiao by three, or 115-112. Worrying about some hometown scoring weeks prior to the event, I set up a panel of five Judges and spread them out from ringside to the cheap seats. And you?d be surprised what this panel, that excluded myself, how these five individuals scored the fight.
RACE INVOKED CAUSE ETHNIC GROUPS DIFFER ON WET & DRY!
None of these guys sat next to one another. Two were Mexican, two Filipinos, and a Caucasian. The Mexican panelist from Tijuana, he scored the bout 116-112. He had thrown $200 on Morales. The other Latino tabbed the contest 115-113, as did the two Filipinos (115-113). The fair-skinned lad, he tabbed matters 114-114, a Draw. Again, excluding myself, four men scored the 12-rounder for Pacquiao, while a Godfather had it 114-114 a Draw. The gent who bet $200 on Morales at even money with a Pacquiao fan, he had taken two pictures of Ben Franklin out of wallet just prior to Michael Buffer reading the scores.
NOT TRYING TO START TROUBLE HERE!
And while I think Judge Paul Smith is one of the worst scorers in the history of Nevada, this fight tonight was scored in a manner that insured future fights with Top Rank. Judge Dave Moretti, I thought there was hope, that his propensity (a malady in my mind) in scoring fights for the ?house? guy only further illustrates why these guys wouldn?t be doing big fights if I were the boss in Nevada. The third Judge Chuck Giampa, in defense of Moretti and that druggie Smith, he had it identical with them at 115-113 for Morales.
THE SUBJECTIVE NATURE OF BOXING SCORING
Some people look at black and see white. While others see white instead of black. There is no way to explain why people differ in observation like they do. The same can be said when it comes to the scoring of a boxing match. Because at the end of this day, I thought Manny Pacquiao had won. And with the exception of HBO?s Larry Merchant, who called the fight a Draw after 12 rounds, my panel thinks he did as well.

PEDRO STAYED ?UNDERCOVER? UNTIL FIGHT TIME!
I penned a piece yesterday morning that is sure to cause more strife in the life of Top Rank skipper Bob Arum. You see Arum?s luck, and that of his two VP?s, Bruce Trampler and stepson Todd Du beof, it is about to come to an end. And if you?ve read this column for any period of time, you know I don?t play.
