Once a week, he allows hundreds of fans to watch him train. Come on, NO FIGHTER’S DO THAT!
He knocks-out a Mexican legend, and then dares to call the people of Mexico, [“Beautiful People.”]
How dare he?
A few months later, he nearly chases Juan Manuel Marquez, out of the MGM Grand in the [first round], and again uses the “B” word to describe the people of Mexico.
Trust me! They’re getting tired down there (Mexico). They’re tired of tossing their best stuff his way … just to have him hit it out of the park. They’re getting tired of it!
Now, if only he could make it easier for them to hate him. STOP being so polite! …Insult them! …Say something derogatory … Anything!
In a Donut Shop, on the outskirts of Los Angeles, I sat down with a group of Mexican’s Friday night, and watched “Solo Boxeo.” ?Wasn’t long before the topic became Saturday’s anticipated ruckus in Las Vegas, between Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales.
One man covers his eyes with his palms, peeks through his fingers and says, “This is how I’m going to watch it.” Art Jimenez, a contractor, offers some rather interesting advice. ?I put $500.00 on Pacquiao,? he says. ?This way if Morales loses, I still win. And if he wins, I will be too happy to even care that I lost.?
Now ? back to Pacquiao. Is it just me, or is Manny Pacquiao?s head getting really big. You know, sort of like Bonds. NO? Is it just me? OK.
Um, well, that?s all I got. And if this did not convince you that Manny Pacquiao is a ?bad person,? it?s because HE?S NOT.
The truth is, there is no fighter more amiable … more likable than Pacquiao. Regardless of the obvious language barrier, Pacquiao is able to reach far beyond just a Philippine audience. When the fighters traveled to Mexico, to promote the fight, Pacquiao took it upon himself to speak to the Spanish speaking press [in Spanish].
When a mostly Mexican crowd gathered around him at the Olympic Auditorium in Downtown Los Angeles, he shook every single one of their hands, took pictures and signed autographs. He must have stood there fifteen minutes signing autographs, and never once thought of walking away.
….It is NO secret, this sport could use a lot more Manny Pacquiaos (presentable fighters that children could look-up to).
With the fight only a few hours away, it?s time for me to offer my pick ? and it?s not an easy one.
No matter how dominantly powerful and fast Pacquiao is. It is still his fight to lose! ? And it’s still possible for him to lose. But just so long as he keeps his head in the fight and does not give Morales a window of opportunity, he will come out victorious. But remember, all Morales needs is just a window ? a small opening, and he will run with the fight ? possibly even dominating Pacquiao. But if Pacquiao fights HIS fight, he should have no problem beating Morales. Forget about knocking him out, and forget about a secret weapon. Use what you have! Don?t wait around trying to detonate a ?secret weapon? ? while Morales racks-up the rounds ? when what you have is already sufficient.
