Redefining the word ?diehard,? a Manny Pacquiao fan defended his idol to the death as he was stabbed by a fellow laborer in Port Area, Manila the other night.
Western Police District (WPD) investigators said Erico Capinoy, 32, succumbed to multiple stab wounds in different parts of the body following an argument with drinking friends at around 12 midnight Thursday along the Baseco Compound in the Port Area.
The debate during the drinking bout, witnesses said, centered on the forthcoming fight between Manny Pacquiao and Erik Morales of Mexico in Las Vegas, Nevada, this weekend.
At first, witnesses said, that the drinking partners were merely having fun in teasing Capinoy, who was known as a die-hard Pacquiao fan.
As the verbal joust heated up and more alcohol was consumed, the anti-Pacquiao drinking partners themselves got irked as Capinoy continued to defend his boxing idol.
Capinoy parried every argument that Morales would pummel his Filipino idol, earning the ire of his felllow laborers..
When the group realized that they could not win over the ardent Pacquiao fan, one of them pulled out a knife and started stabbing the victim.
