Former champ Ricky Hatton is playing around with some bad stuff. I have had friends that are now dead as a result of cocaine usage. Cocaine is a powerful drug that sucks the life out of you, and once it has it’s nasty hooks in you, it is very hard to break away from it.
Cocaine has a long history, and most people that start using it end up either dead, broke, homeless, or in jail. Neither of those options are good ones, so Mr Hatton needs to get into a treatment center immediately. I pray that this is just an isolated incident, but I am afraid that it’s probably not. Cocaine is an extremely addictive drug, and it does not take long for the body to become chemically dependent on it.
I worked for two different drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers in my past and have seen first hand what drug addiction does to people. There are some real good folks out there who are hooked on drugs. Cocaine is not bias, it does not see color or religion, it’s a one size fits all drug.
I have read articles posted all across the web that poke at Ricky Hatton and belittle him. The photo of him using the drug has been plastered all over the web. Hatton needs prayer, not criticism.
I traveled to Vicksburg, MS this weekend and spoke with a few boxing fans at the casino. When I brought up the news on Ricky Hatton, I was happy with what I heard. The folks that I spoke with all see it the same way that I do. Jerry Owen of Vicksburg MS had this to say, ” I hope Ricky will go get some help, especially if he’s addicted to it. He has a lot of life ahead of him and I would hate to see him have an over-dose or worse.”
Hatton needs family support and fan support right now. He needs to get clean and move forward with his life. Prayers goes out to Ricky Hatton.
