While Ricky Hatton may not have been the most skilled fighter you will have ever come across, he certainly made his impression in the sport of boxing because of his affable nature and frantic style in the ring. Unfortunately for Hatton, despite his undeniable charm he has always seemed to have a wild lifestyle outside of the ring when not in training and it has appeared to catch up to him yet again.
British tabloid News of the World has apparently published a striking video and follow-up photos of the former star fighter snorting several lines of cocaine while in a Hotel room in Manchester. The Daily Mail reports that a few weeks ago Hatton was caught on tape by his friend Emma Bowe in a ten-hour drinking and cocaine binge. Bowe was in town to check out a Mixed Martial Arts event with Hatton and Ricky obviously felt the need to relax.
?He laid out three huge lines,? Bowe stated. ?Really industrial quantities. I watched him all the time. He went to the dressing table and cut them up with a credit card, really fat lines of coke.?
Bowe went on to state that in addition to snorting that Hatton also indulged in several shots of Sambuca, eleven pints of Guiness, four shots of vodka and two glasses of wine.Tough stuff indeed and this will be embarrassing for Hatton to deal with, as he is beloved in the United Kingdom.
During his career Hatton was a two-time world champion and built up a huge following in his home country. He would later burst onto the American scene, with seven of his last eight fights being in the United States as well as several notable fights in Las Vegas.
Hatton hasn?t fought since his May 2009 knockout loss to Manny Pacquiao in which he was stopped in under two rounds by the Filipino fighter in chilling fashion. That loss has obviously been hard for Ricky to cope with and their have been on and off rumors of his retirement for the past year or so. Hatton now obviously has more important matters to attend to outside of the ring.
?If he carries on he?ll kill himself,? Bowe stated. ?I?m really, really worried for him.?
