“I heard about it,” is what Manny Pacquiao said Friday after the Dallas press conference about Mayweather’s obnoxious rant.
“I’m satisfied with this (Margarito) fight. I’m going to train hard. I don’t care as long as the fans are happy. A couple of more fights and that’s it,” said the proud seven – time in seven different weight division champion.
On the other end, Mayweather made a seemingly forced, flip, insincere apology to anyone who may have been offended. He left that up to them.
Because of his boxing talent, Mayweather will always draw a horde of media to hear him speak.
Currently, that’s a shame because he has nothing of consequence to say except to rip down his own young legacy.
Mayweather is boxing at his very best at the same time his public persona is self destructing despite what his die-hard fans say.
His wins over Juan Manuel Marquez and Shane Mosley were gems of performances.
It would take a group of university professors at the highest level, maybe from Vienna, to explain why Mayweather does what he does and says what he says.
All I know is he’s capable of so much more and could be a much better role model than he is these days.
He obviously has too much talent for his own good and well-being.
I said previously that I could live without a Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight in their primes. It would be a shame as it would be an exciting experience.
I don’t know what “good for the sport” really means but sure, whatever.
Mayweather may soon have boxing fans and media turning completely against him and wishing for him to fail. Not for not taking the fight but for not acting like a man about it.
