If I was handed control of team Mayweather, the first thing that I would do is fire just about everyone that has anything to do with Floyd. Wait, I take that back. I would fire everyone. It appears as if finally someone told Floyd to shut up, and it appears as if he finally listened to someone. Floyd has been on a tear as of late and with each time he opens up his mouth, the worse it gets for him.
Between racial attacks on Manny Pacquiao, and stupid accusations that Manny takes steroids, he’s dug himself a PR nightmare hole that I’m not sure he can climb out of. Now even a few of Pacquiao’s haters are writing that perhaps Floyd did trump up the steroid accusations out of fear. The fear to fight Manny may have been strong enough for Floyd to come up with the steroid story. This writer has never wavered on this topic. Manny is not taking steroids, and he has not ever taken steroids.
It’s been very quiet lately, you can hear a pin drop. Not a peep from Floyd as of late, so I am guessing someone told him to shut up. That someone would probably be his attorney, the guy that will now have to represent him in fighting off multiple felony counts, and some additional charges to boot.
Some people still think that the big fight between Floyd and Manny will still happen. I am not so sure that it will anymore. I do hope that this fight will happen, but it just seems as if the obstacles keep popping up. Floyd is the one that has thrown every obstacle known to man in the way. Steroid accusations, blood test demands, and now his legal issues.
I have defended Floyd in the past against the theory that he’s scared to fight Manny. I have been thinking about that as of late, and do believe that it’s entirely possible that he is scared. Why else would he be so determined NOT to fight?
Mississippians that I have spoken with throughout this whole ordeal for the most part have been split. Those who follow Floyd support Floyd, and those who follow Manny support him, but that has changed some lately. Floyd’s fans in Mississippi have to some degree broken away from him. Mississippians have had a history in this state of racism. African Americans in Mississippi have dealt with the race issue for generations, they have little tolerance for it, and when Floyd attacked Pacquiao and Asians, they didn’t like it.
Now we have to wait for the legal mess to unfold before any possible negotiations can happen again. Floyd Mayweather Vs. Manny Pacquiao needs to happen, but it may never happen.
