Minny Pacquiao Cartoon Bent On Sharing The Filipino Culture To Everybody

A sketch comedy show about Manny Pacquiao’s shortest biggest fan is now a cartoon series. In a collaboration with OneTooProduction and Ricecooker studios, a couple of episodes teaching younger Filipinos about the Philippines have been released.

For now the series comprises of short episodes since creating a cartoon series requires a lot of time and funding. But the people behind the project are bent on doing what they can to achieve their goal of educating Filipinos and others about the Filipino culture with the resources that they have.

Currently, the first couple of episodes featured Minny Pacquiao talking about simple facts regarding the Philippines. The first episodes, featured Minny Pacquiao talking about the Philippines Independence day. The second episode ventured on teaching the younger generation about the number of islands in the Philippine archipelago. In the future, the cartoon series will deal more about the Filipino history and culture.

I am glad to be part of this project. For some that might not know, I did the voice over for the character ‘Minny Buboy’. Many times, Filipino parents are too busy working to provide for their family and do not have time to teach their children about their heritage history. As a result, many young Filipinos overseas grow up with little knowledge about their heritage and some suffer identity issues.

A cartoon series featuring a Filipino character can be a fun way for them to learn. It can also be something that they can enjoy watching with their friends since cartoons have crossover appeal as we can see with ‘Diego’ and ‘Dora’.
