When Manny Pacquiao fights Erik Morales on Saturday, he will be wearing the Japanese-made Winning gloves preferred by Morales, instead of the Mexican Cleto Reyes gloves he usually wears. The contract for the bout states that both boxers must wear Winning gloves, but that doesn’t sit well with Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach. “Murad sold us out by signing that agreement,” Roach told the Manila Times referring to Pacquiao’s promoter Murad Muhammad. “Manny has been using those gloves [Reyes] ever since he fought here in the US because they suit his punching style, power and speed well.” Pacquiao, however, seems unfazed by the issue, stating “It?s okay with me. Because, as you can see, it?s not in the gloves. It?s when you hit your opponent, and that is what counts.”
