After Olympian Jose Navarro chickened out, Cebuano boxing sensation Z “The Dream” Gorres has finally found an opponent bold enough to tangle with him as Colombian Reynaldo “El Doberman” Hurtado has been tapped to face him underneath the Manny Pacquiao-Erik Morales clash this Sunday.
Gorres, who has been training with ex-world champ Gerry Pe?alosa under the guidance of 2002 Trainer of the Year Buddy McGirt in Orlando, Florida, created quite a stir when organizers found it difficult to snag an opponent for him.
Previously, the talented ALA Boy was slated to meet against Russian Dmitri Kirilov, but the latter backed out presumably after the financial aspect of the negotiations bogged down. Then, ex-Olympian and WBC mandatory challenger Jose Navarro was brought in and suddenly there was a fight. But no sooner than reports started coming out in the internet detailing Gorres’ credentials and talent had the fight been called off.
Two other opponents–Gerson Guerrero and Mexican Felix Flores Murillo–mysteriously disappeared from the fight mix with no apparent reason.
Gorres goes into the fight armed with 18-1-1, 10 KO’s record while the veteran Hurtado has 36 wins, 6 losses, 1 draw with 27 KO’s.
