LAS VEGAS, Nevada – This year’s Miss Universe Pageant contestants spent 2 hours of their time at the Miss Universe National Gift Auction all for good cause.
Miss Universe contestants brought items from their respective countries and placed them in an auction for the highest individual bidder. All proceeds will go to the Nevada Cancer Institute.
Miss Philippines Venus Raj’s items consisted of 2 signed gloves from the People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao as well as a pearl necklace. The gloves were sold for $450, while the pearl necklace was sold for $1,250.
At the event, Raj was getting a lot of attention from international media not because of her items for auction but because of her standout appeal
Several Filipinos who traveled from afar were also present to show their support for Miss Philippines.
Miss Malaysia, who happens to be Raj’s roommate, described Raj as a true sweetheart and a very down-to-earth person.
Monday, August 23, is the coronation night for Miss Universe 2010.
For Raj, she’s asking Filipinos around the globe to pray for her quest in this year’s pageant.
