Manny Pacquiao will seek permission from Congress for a short leave of absence to attend press events late this month in the United States promoting his November 13 fight with Antonio Margarito.
Promoter Bob Arum said it is important for Pacquiao to be present during the press tour and is asking Congress for some understanding.
Arum has scheduled an Aug. 31 press conference and two other media gigs in the US in connection with promoting the Pacquiao-Margarito showdown.
After the press tour, Arum assures that ?Manny can return and resume his duties.?
?We can?t take the congressman away for a long time,? said Arum from his Las Vegas home.
Arum also said he had just conferred with Texas billionaire Jerry Jones in Dallas where they discussed bringing the fight to Cowboys Stadium.
Arum politely declined to say if a deal was made or not but all signs point to Dallas as venue of the fight and the kick off press conference at the end of this month.
