Juan Manuel Marquez is a man on a mission.
?Manny Pacquiao, that?s my desire, I want it so bad,? said the future Hall of Famer when talking to SkySports
The current WBA and WBO lightweight champion is looking to fight Manny Pacquiao for a third time, after two electric fights.
In their two fights one was contentiously scored a draw and one a close decision in Pacquiao?s favor. A third fight would mean Marquez would have a chance to gain revenge in two fights he claims he won.
A fight with Pacquiao would also give a chance for Marquez to become the first Mexican to win titles in four weight divisions, having already won titles at featherweight, super-featherweight and lightweight.
?It?s very important,? he said. ?It?s definitely something that keeps me going and to become the first Mexican fighter to win in four divisions is a dream come true and it?s something in my mind.
?But, right now my concentration is 100 percent on July 31 to defend my titles, my belts, against Juan Diaz and then we?ll look forward.?
The chances that the fight can be made are slim though. The fallout of the failed negotiations between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather means that relations between their two respective promoters, Top Rank and Golden Boy are at an all time low. Marquez meanwhile needs to take care of his title defense against Juan Diaz.
But once that fight takes place, it?s obvious where Marquez?s mind will turn if he is victorious.
?I want that third fight with him [Pacquiao] before my career ends. And maybe another one would be like Erik Morales or a Ricky Hatton, but Manny Pacquiao for sure.?
