Weekly Dispatch ? Floyd And Manny A Letdown

So the guy who is scared of needles, and who is far to busy attending congressional meetings can?t get a fight together with a money-grabbing, ego-maniacal and prolific ducker of even the slightest threats. His promoter meanwhile, a man who misspeaks more than a politician, had mythical conversations with the other fighter?s promoter. He is a man whose secrecy and aversion to the media would make a Freemason blush. All the while the head of a major cable channel was the intermediary in this dialog and won?t straighten things out, by telling us who is telling porkies. Or maybe it?s the other way round. Who knows?

Only kidding anyway. But now that I?ve got your attention here is the weekly dispatch.

The major, never-ending focus over the past decade (at least it feels like one) has of course been the disintegration of any possibility of a fight taking place between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Well having spent the past two months covering this story I for one am bored. Whether Bob Arum and Al Haymon are to blame, who knows?

Perhaps it?s Floyd?s reluctance to fight an individual who might beat him, without his uncle Roger in his corner and his tax bill significantly smaller after routing Shane Mosley.

Perhaps Manny Pacquiao still did not agree to the drug testing. We just don?t know. All of our sources come from contradictory sources, ones that could not be trusted in the past. So what?s changed?

The fans are the biggest losers in all this (with the possible exception of the IRS). No date, no fight, no chance of happening. There are only so many insults that can be flung in either camps direction before everyone wholly gets bored of this whole affair. So let?s move on and take a look at others who have let us down, as the first half of the year has drawn to a close??.

Paul Williams, undeniably a heavyweight in skill is but a featherweight in his ability at drawing viewers, crowds and money. Yet this supreme pugilist, who incidentally is advised by that same mysterious Al Haymon is insisting on moving back down to welterweight, rather than accepting a 50/50 split with Sergio Martinez ? another fight that a whole swathe of fans want to see. Shame on you Paul Williams.

Shane Mosley, getting on in years and slowing down took a boring fight with Sergio Mora, rather than agreeing a fight that would have given him a lovely payday against an opponent he had previously signed to fight ? Andre Berto. Berto misses out once again just like the fans.

Berto is sat idle while ?Sugar? Shane has decided to sour interest in his next bout.

If any of you feel like nominating anyone else as a let down, feel free to comment. In the meantime?

Have a great week.
