When Antonio Margarito was caught cheating against Miguel Cotto by putting plaster on his hands, the entire boxing world was disgusted, and appalled. The act of putting plaster on his hands could have killed Miguel Cotto, yet up next for Margarito is the pound for pound king, Manny Pacquiao. Most people do not believe that the man deserves an opportunity to fight Pacquiao. Well now that it is going to happen, Manny Pacquiao has an opportunity to deliver a real sentence for Margarito’s crime.
The Old Testament taught an eye for an eye. Of course Manny will not resort to putting plaster on his hands, he doesn’t need to cheat. With that said, there will be a lot of people that will be looking forward to the punishment that will be dealt to Margarito in November, and Miguel Cotto I am sure will be one of them.
This fight should be billed “Judgment Day” the day Margarito paid the price for cheating in boxing. On November 13th, 2010 Manny Pacquiao Vs. Antonio Margarito will happen, and the only reason this writer will watch it is to see Manny deliver some punishment, the kind of punishment that a commission ruling can’t deliver.
In a recent article that I did, I spoke with a former Mississippi State baseball player. He made a good point about cheating in sports. He talked about how cheating in baseball (steroids) ups a batting average, and gives a player more power to hit home runs. He was clear in saying that he does not support this behavior, but said that cheating in boxing is different. He talked about the Margarito situation, and how it could have killed Miguel Cotto. His point was, cheating in baseball gives a player better numbers, cheating in boxing can put someone in a pine box.
November 13th, 2010 will be the trial, the jury deliberation, and the sentence, and judge Pacquiao will enforce the punishment.
