There are reports that Floyd Mayweather Jr and Don King have been talking some business. Well now, isn’t this just a match made in heaven? Here you have two guys that love to talk. It’s two guys that love money. It’s two guys that have polarizing personalities, and two guys that love the camera.
What exactly is Floyd up to now anyway? Is he running to Don King for support? It may just be the case. Dong King and Floyd Mayweather have been spending some time together in Florida and from the reports that I am getting, they are in serious talks to do business with one another. Perhaps this is what is needed in order to finally get the big fight done?
Love him or hate him, Dong King does get things done. He and Bob Arum in this writers opinion would be able to work things out, thus making the big fight with Pacquiao a real possibility once again. Mayweather and King are both money hounds and have similar personalities, perhaps meshing better than Floyd and Golden Boy meshed.
Mississippi boxing fans could care less who is promoting Floyd Mayweather, they just want to see the fight of the decade happen. Jason Townsend of Clinton, Mississippi, a big Floyd Mayweather fan talked to me about this from the Last Call sports bar in Jackson, “Don King can make this fight happen. Floyd went to the right guy. Both Arum and King are the Godfather’s of boxing, and they will be able to make this fight happen.”
Patrick Turner, the Assistant Mississippi Athletic Commissioner said this, “Boxing has given everything to Floyd Mayweather, it’s time he gives back to boxing and fights Mannny Pacquiao.”
The big fight may still happen. Don King and Bob Arum are indeed the “Godfather’s” of boxing. If they can’t make this fight happen, nobody can.
