Did Twitter just play a role in making one of the better possible fights in boxing?
Following his Saturday night thrashing of Carlos Abregu, Palm Spring?s welterweight boxer Timothy Bradley made it clear that he is hunting the biggest names in the welterweight and junior welterweight divisions.
One of the junior welterweight mentioned during a post fight interview with Bradley was Britian?s Amir Khan.
After watching Bradley?s performance on Home Box Office (HBO) and subsequent challenge, Khan made the following statements on his Twitter account (character by character, as presented by Khan):
“Im fighting timothy bradley next I’m gona tell goldenboy. Let’s see if they want it for real. Talk is cheap. ?I’ll fight tim bradley its the first time he has called me out, I’m going vegas and talk to goldenboy I wud love the fight good style for me”
While on The Boxing Truth Radio show, Bradley?s promoter Gary Shaw was informed of Khan?s Twitter messages and expressed clear interest in making a fight between the pair of young gladiators.
?If Khan said he could do the fight,? said Shaw, ?I am telling you he has got the fight.?
All of this would depend on Golden Boy Promotions plans for Khan, as they are in control of promoting his boxing career.
