Call me cynical, but I’ve got a feeling that Floyd Mayweather Jr will make some controversial statements at his upcoming summer boxing camp for kids. In a press release sent out today, The Floyd Mayweather Jr Foundation will be hosting a free summer boxing camp for about 150 kids ages 5-18. Manny Pacquiao ‘I want to leave a legacy not just as a world class boxer but as a servant leader’ The kids will receive boxing instruction on floor exercises, shadow boxing, speed bags, and heavy bags. In addition to the boxing skills, Team Mayweather will also teach them life skills. And I find this part of the camp highly comical. “Giving back to this community and providing opportunities for youth to stay active and gain new skills is very important to me. It is also one of the goals of The Floyd Mayweather Jr. Foundation. The Mayweather Boxing Club Summer Camp is a chance for these kids to learn the fundamentals of boxing, as well as the important life lessons that come with participation in sports” Floyd Jr, Boxingscene What can Team Mayweather teach these kids about life other than “say no to drugs” and “lie, cheat, and steal your way to the top”? Now, I’m a huge fan of charity work especially when popular public figures are a part of it. But, fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I’ve already been fooled once by Floyd Mayweather Jr and his “sincere” charity work. I will not be fooled again. Last month, Floyd Jr made an appearance with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, meeting a kid with a serious form of cancer. The kid idolized Floyd Jr. And the event ended up being nothing more than an opportunity for Floyd Jr to use it as a negotiations ploy.
