The story in pictures: Juanma Lopez, ‘Abe’ Concepcion, and Nonito Donaire make weight in Puerto Rico

Earlier today in San Juan, Puerto Rico the participants to this weekend?s The Battle event at the Coliseo Jose Miguel Agrelot weighed in. Headlined by WBO Featherweight champion Juan Manuel Lopez defending his belt against Bernabe Concepcion and WBA super flyweight champion Nonito Donaire facing off with once-beaten Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez, the Showtime doubleheader is chalked full of talent and pugilists from all walks of life.

The reigning champion Lopez is known best for his calculated attack and offensive efficiency. The southpaw has registered 25 stoppages in his 28 wins and is coming off of an impressive 7th round TKO over Steven Luevano that netted him his prized WBO belt. Lopez weighed in at 125.3 pounds for his clash with Concepcion and appears ready to make a statement.

Concepcion is definitely a clear underdog heading into tomorrow night?s fight but has put in some tireless work for the contest. Concepcion was spotted at the Wild Card gym in Los Angeles a few weeks back and was seen sparring, hitting the heavy bag, shadow boxing, jumping rope, and working on cardio before calling at day. The Rizal, Philippines native is coming off of a decision win over Mario Santiago this past February at the Hilton in Las Vegas, Nevada. Concepcion weighed in at 125 pounds for the scheduled twelve round clash.

The co-feature to tomorrow night?s Showtime double header is WBA super flyweight champion Nonito Donaire defending his belt against once beaten Hernan ?Tyson? Marquez. Donaire was said to have weight issues prior to the fight but weighed in at 114.5 pounds while Marquez came in at 115.

Donaire?s most recent fight was a reflection of his current status in the game as he had been seeking a high profile opponent but had to settle with overmatched Manuel Vargas. Donaire would stop his Jalisco, Mexico foe in the 3rd round as part of the Pinoy Power 3/Latin Fury 13 event in Las Vegas. Donaire has stated that this is his last fight at 115 pounds and will be eyeing the bigger names of the Bantamweight division next.

In a Jr. Featherweight undercard attraction Eden Sonsona weighed in at 121.6 pounds while his opponent Jonathan Oquendo weighed in at 121.4.
