While this summer is relatively slow in terms of boxing action there are still some meaningful fights on the horizon, including tomorrow night?s middleweight bout featuring newly transplanted Wild Card fighter Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. facing off with once-beaten Irishman John Duddy. The fight takes place at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX and both fighters comfortably made the middleweight limit earlier today with Chavez coming in at 160 while Duddy tipped the scales at 159 pounds.
Chavez has generated a lot of buzz since hooking up with Freddie Roach a few months back and getting down to work at the trainer?s Wild Card facility in Los Angeles. From all reports in the gym the 24-year old has made vast improvement in his short time working with Roach and all eyes will be watching to see how he fairs against Duddy. Chavez? last fight was an uneven decision over Troy Rowland at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas this past November and a change in personnel seemed to be exactly what he was in need of.
The Chavez-Duddy contest highlights the ?Latin Fury 15? card which also features three-division champion Marco Antonio Barrera facing off with Adailton De Jesus, as well as appearances from former title challenger Raul Martinez and prospects Jose Benavidez Jr., Omar Henry, and Salvador Sanchez..

Timothy Bradley?s name still heavily in the mix
That leaves us where we are at today, with Bradley in line to now face Argentina’s Carlos Abregu at the Agua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage, California on July 17th. Abregu is crude, power-punching brawler but will have trouble matching Bradley on skill alone in what is serving as Timothy?s first notable Welterweight clash. While it may not be the type of fight that Bradley is looking for the HBO showdown will give him a chance to remind everyone what all of the talk is about.
