Earlier today the final press conference for Saturday?s ?Latin Fury 15? card at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas was held. The card is headlined by Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (41-0-1, 30 KO’s) facing off with Ireland?s John Duddy (29-1, 18 KO’s) in a middleweight clash that is sure to create fireworks. After an uneven performance in Las Vegas, Nevada last November Chavez Jr. has spent the past five weeks training with Freddie Roach at the trainer?s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles.
Other notable action on that card will see former three-division champion Marco Antonio Barrera facing off with Adailton De Jesus, former title challenger Raul Martinez meeting up with Gabriel Elizondo, as well as showcases from prospects Jose Benavidez Jr., Omar Henry, and Salvador Sanchez III.
Below are some quotes from the participants heading into Saturday night?
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on Saturday night? ?This is the most important fight of my career and I prepared very well because I know I have a very strong opponent. I think that I will win on Saturday and it will be a great fight.?
Top Rank Founder Bob Arum on Chavez Jr. vs. Duddy? ?I think this is one of the most competitive events on the Latin Fury series, especially the stellar fight between Chavez Jr. and Duddy where there is no clear favorite and both fighters can win.?
John Duddy on the battle ahead? ?We both know that a victory in this fight will bring us very close to getting a title shot. I?m sure it will be a memorable battle.?
Fernando Beltran, president of Zanfer who has supported Chavez Jr. in his career? ?I know that Roach and his team did a lot, but I recognize the attitude of no surrender to Julio Jr. and that gives us confidence that this Saturday he will present his best performance against a dangerous in Duddy.?
Marco Antonio Barrera on his goals in the sport? ?I want to be the first Mexican to win four championships in four different weight categories and why I?m here with Top Rank who will help me achieve the goal that I have still in boxing, but I must first defeat Jesus [ ] and then look for that dream of a lightweight belt.?
