As the on-again, off-again negotiations between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. negotiators continue, the majority of fight fans continue to clamor for this fight to happen.
Recent developments have Manny Pacquiao consenting to random blood testing demanded by Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and now Mayweather, Jr. demands a 60/40 purse split when most agree a 50/50 division is perfectly in line for the two best welterweights in the world.
To the majority of male fight fans whenever this fight is finalized it will completely dominate the sports, not just boxing, scene completely.
To the majority of female fight fans, at this point they really could care less if these two fight or not.
It was time to again “hit the streets” for thoughts from fans asking if they are still interested in Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather, Jr.
So off to downtown Denver we went and asked random women who exited The SportsFan store at 912 16th Street on the 16th Street Mall what their thoughts and opinions were regarding the possible non-fight that would fetch somewhere near $40 million dollars each for Pacquiao and Mayweather, Jr.
The criteria and end result of the questioning was: The female (whether a fight fan or not) had to at least have heard the names Manny Pacquiao and/or Floyd Mayweather, Jr., in some fashion. Their opinion could not be that of a boyfriend/husband, but their own to qualify. They were made aware their name would be posted on examiner.com for all to see.
Denise Davis (Aurora, Colorado): “Pacquiao is on something and the blood test has always been the obstacle. Neither one of them will back down so the fight will probably never happen, and who cares”?
Jennifer Walker (Denver, Colorado): “I hear these two can possibly make around $30 million dollars each for this fight. I would take a blood test, eat grass from my lawn, and slap my momma for that kind of money! They don’t really want to fight or the contracts would already be signed”.
Angela Hernandez (Arvada, Colorado): “I am so tired of these two idiots! All my husband keeps saying is what he’d do “for that kind of money”. All I know is that if these two don’t want to fight, I’m sure there are two female fighters that will take any kind of test and probably put on a better fight”!
Quiana Davis (Denver, Colorado): “Floyd Mayweather has done everything possible to make Pacquiao agree that this fight must be “drug-free”. Pacquiao refuses so he must be on something. Floyd can’t MAKE Pacquiao fight and now nobody cares. They’re both STUPID”!
Rowena Marquez (Phoenix, Arizona): “These guys are gonna miss the chance to make $40 million dollars apiece because of some drug test? I don’t feel sorry for them! I wouldn’t let a test get in the way of that kind of money if it was me. It’s boring to talk about”.
Linda Torres (Littleton, Colorado): “If you’re talking about the boxers who are squabbling over some stupid tests, then I don’t know why you even feel the need to ask the question. They are both an insult to boxing fans that support them by paying to see them fight. And then they pull this? Everyone should forget about these two and focus on guys who really are fighters”.
Karen Quivers (Denver, Colorado): “I no longer care if these two ever fight! Blood tests, more money for one than the other, do you really care anymore? I sure don’t”!
Alena Sandoval (Centennial, Colorado): “That fight is old news. There are fighters out there willing to do whatever it takes to make decent money and these two can’t come to an agreement? Pacquiao would kill Mayweather if they ever did fight”.
Roberta Murdoch (Lone Tree, Colorado): “I’m really not a fan of boxing, but I do know that these guys can’t reach an agreement on several issues that now prevents them from making millions of dollars each. Isn’t that a downright shame? Can I sign the contract and you train me”?
Sylvia Robinson (Denver, Colorado): “Floyd Mayweather is the best fighter in the world. This ridiculous refusal by Pacquiao to make the fight happen and take whatever tests Mayweather wants has gone on for so long I don’t care if they ever fight! Mayweather would knock him out anyway”.
Apparently both Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao have underestimated the abilities of the female sports fan to comprehend what $40 million dollars apiece means to the average Joe, or in this case Josette.
I once read an opinion long ago that said, “If you want the answer to a question, ask a man”.
The opinion further stated, “If you want the correct answer to a question, ask a woman”…
