Bradley and his team aren’t happy about it.
While the superfight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. may or may not happen, other possible challengers for Manny are steppiing up. Timothy Bradley and his promoter, Gary Shaw, have mentioned their desire to face Pacquiao in the not to distant future.
Manny’s promoter, Bob Arum, isn’t too interested in the idea. He doesn’t think Bradley is a big enough name to cover Manny’s accustomed to purse. This set Bradley off:
“I think he’s completely wrong,” Bradley said. “I am a bigger name than Joshua Clottey, no disrespect to Clottey.”
“I say, as long as I keep winning, people are going to get on the bandwagon. If they are not on the bus now, they will be. I think that is a lame excuse they are suggesting because they don’t want to fight me. They feel it is too high of a risk for too little reward. But how do they know?”
Bradley is regarded by many as the top 140 pounder in the world, and he plans to move up to 147 very soon.
