MANILA, Philippines – Fighter of the Decade Manny Pacquiao has confirmed that talks for his anticipated fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. are still ongoing.
“Nag-uusap pa rin ang mga promoter namin,” Pacquiao told ABS-CBN News upon his arrival to Manila from Cebu on Monday.
The Filipino boxing icon, however, declined to provide details of the ongoing negotiations for his Mayweather fight. He said he has yet to get a feedback from promoter Bob Arum.
Pacquiao said he is still ready to face the undefeated Mayweather in the ring in November.
Fears of another breakdown in talks for the Pacquiao-Mayweather face-off came after the American boxer asked for a bigger purse in the earnings of the most anticipated fight of the year.
Pacquiao had said that his decision to agree to a blood test 14 days before the fight would be the last wish from the Mayweather camp that he would grant.
He said that another demand from Mayweather would mean that the American fighter does not really want to face him in the ring.
As negotiations for the battle of year pushes through, Pacquiao is keeping himself busy with his studies.
Pacquiao is taking up a 10-day executive coaching course at the Development Academy of the Philippines-Graduate School of Public and Development Management (DAP-GSPDM).
The coaching course was specifically designed to help him get oriented to his duties as congressman.
He will officially sit as Sarangani Province’s lone congressman at the House of Representative on July 1.
Pacquiao will take his oath of office on June 28.
