Latin Fury 15 updates: Wild Card prospect Jose Benavidez Jr. continues to shine with TKO over Beeman

Earlier tonight at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX, 18-year old Jr. Welterweight prospect Jose Benavidez Jr. continued to impress, stopping Providence, Rhode Island’s Josh Beeman in just 80 seconds. With the win the prized Top Rank prospect moves to 7-0, all by knockout, while continuing to keep the early buzz on his career very much alive.

Benavidez has shown a vast array of weapons in his early career, including a potent attack to the body. That proved to be the ticket tonight at he halted his 28-year old foe with a well placed shot to the ribcage. The first minute of the fight was slow until Benavidez pinned Beeman to the ropes and unleashed a potent combination, wtih the finishing blow being a shot downstairs.

Three of Benavidez? first four fights were in the Las Vegas area and he instantly left an impression. After his first professional bout at the Hard Rock this past January, a first round knockout over Steven Cox, trainer Freddie Roach proclaimed that the Phoenix, Arizona native was a future world champion and those statements have shown themselves to be reasonable thus far.

Benavidez has said time and time again that training out of Roach?s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles has been a hug plus in his career as he has had the opportunity to train around world class fighters from all parts of the globe while also sparring champions like Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan.

Still just a teenager, there is much more to be written about Benavidez? story but so far the early chapters seem very promising. Benavidez is rumored to be returning to the ring July 17th in Chiapas, Mexico on the undercard of Fernando Montiel’s bout with Rafael Concepcion.

Jose Benavidez reflects on sparring Amir Khan

?I?ve been training hard,? Benavidez claimed. ?I?ve been helping Amir Khan spar and I feel good and I feel strong. It?s crazy because he is a world champion and I am only seventeen years old. I?m giving him a little run for his money but it is probably the best sparring I can get right now because he is really fast and he actually fights my weight. He?s getting ready to fight Paulie Malignaggi so we are helping each other out right now. It?s the best sparring I can get and I will be ready for Saturday night.?
