In sports, we’re always looking for the next great athlete who’s on the same level as their predecessor. For example, in the NBA we look for the next Michael Jordan; in the NFL we’re looking for the next Jim Brown or Joe Montana; in the NHL we’re looking for the next Wayne Gretzky or Gordie Howe; and in Boxing we’re looking for the next Muhammad Ali or Sugar Ray Robinson. But nowhere in sports do we look for the next Martin Luther King Jr or Malcolm X. And that’s exactly what Floyd Mayweather Jr described himself as.

Forget becoming the next Muhammad Ali or Sugar Ray Robinson, Floyd Jr describes his efforts to clean up the sport of boxing as being on the same level as what Martin and Malcolm did in their battles with Civil Rights. And if you are wondering why he doesn’t consider himself the next Ali or Robinson, it’s because he thinks he’s already better than them. The following Floyd Mayweather Jr quote is from the Grand Rapids Press: ?But it?s me taking a stand for something that means something. And it?s for the fighters who are up and coming. How can a man who claims to be all about the money and himself, actually think what he’s doing is comparable to the Civil Rights efforts of Martin Luther King Jr and Malcom X? Other than in his mind, Floyd Jr has not only fallen well short of that comparison but he’s disgraced Martin Luther King Jr and Malcolm X. Let’s examine further…
