Let me get this straight. Floyd Mayweather wants above and beyond 50% of the loot if and when he ever fights Manny Pacquiao?
This is based upon almost doubling the pay per view numbers in his May 1st fight with Shane Mosley opposite what Pacquiao March 13th against Joshua Clottey.
I say, just like pound for pound, Mayweather can have all the mythical money and percentages he wants.
But when it comes to the real deal, it should be a 50-50 deal.
OK, may Pacquiao gets the Philippines. But Mayweather gets all up and around Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Too much money involved to sweat the little things at this late date on either side.
How can Mayweather say only Pacquiao’s last fight counts and the 55 in front of it don’t? Isn’t that ridiculous? Maybe Team Mayweather needs another week or two of vacation before hitting its usual Las Vegas felt tables routine.
Manny Pacquiao is making this fight happen, if it eventually happens. It’s not because of Floyd Mayweather. A worldwide fan base has been building for years for Pacquiao. This was manny-fested when 50,000 fans cheered for him in Dallas March 13th.
Mayweather is doing everything in his power to slow, stall or even shut down negotiations with Bob Arum.
I hope, as I have read elsewhere, that negotiations are going on quietly in the back rooms of Las Vegas and Los Angeles between Top Rank and Golden Boy but I hope Mayweather and Golden Boy keep in mind they may have to give up something to get something in return for negotiating this particular fight.
If Mayweather were a Jack Dempsey or a Mike Tyson, and really brought excitement to the table, he might have a case. Bought he’s a counter puncher with bad hands, a runner if you will. He’s a taker, not a deliverer.
50-50 is the best I would do and I’m being kind to Mayweather.
