Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao, who is also well-admired in the sport of cockfighting, heads a powerhouse cast in Pasay City Cockpit’s Global Slasher 8-cock International Derby on May 18 and 21.
Derby host Patrick Antonio invited Pacquiao to be among the tough cast of local and international champions.
Unknown to many, Pacquiao has already collected a string of cockfight championships, most notable among them were the NCA World Championship Derby in 2006 and the SJC International 8-cock Derby in 2007.
Aside from Pacquiao, others in the tough line-up are Joe Sanford of California, Jun Topacio and Gerald Allen of North Carolina,
Gerry Ramos, Charlie ?Atong? Ang, Boy Marzo, Jet Fernando, Madlambayan Brothers, Rodolfo Pineda of SJC, Arman Santos, Pol Estrellado, Vice Mayor Goto Violago, Jun Cuello and Cesar Dy of Isabela.
Jorge Fajardo of Laguna, fresh from winning the Bullang Bullang National 8-Bullstag Derby, also confirmed his participation along with Allan Siaco, Ed Aparri, Joel Teves, Raymund Burgos, Ruel Ricafort, Amboy Manlapaz and Teng Ranola.
The PCC management announced yesterday the early start of competition on Tuesday (3-cock eliminations) due to the big number of fights. Finals (5-cock) will be held on Friday, May 21.
Submission of entries is set on Monday, May 17, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
