Side Bar Exclusive from HOLLYWOOD, California, May 14, 2010 – World boxing Superstar and Congressman-elect of the Philippines, Manny Pacquiao, may have just given an implicit warning to left-leaning activists of what might his administration become if ever someday he gets elected as the President of the Republic of the Philippines.
Let us face this: Pacquiao will have de facto Cabinet members composing of close associates from foreign land. Their dictates may not be obvious. Pacquiao as the “Pope” in white robes will have a personal “Pope” behind in black robes, whom fellow Examiner.com writer Michael Marley calls: Dr. No.
And that is Michael Konz: image-building strategist, personal adviser and, if unshaved on the upper lip, a Hitler-look-a-like who may have not known Dating 101: Ways You Keep Him Hooked and Happy. But he is a soft-spoken Canadian brainer and a kind-hearted fellow who has lived with Pacquiao over 6 years and who has fed this writer at the Thai Restaurant by Wild Card Gym in Hollywood thrice. Probably, he is the man who knows Obama’s Social Security number.
But, don’t discount the posibility of Top Rank Godfather and Harvard Lawyer Bob Arum, probably the second closest man to Pacquiao’s heart and a potential asset as think tank for the Pacquiao presidency. He is the Pacquiao’s Ambassador of Goodwill who may have a better message than the activist who crafted a Buffalo billboard which petitions President Barrack Obama for “a freakin’ job”.
And because of the same individuals whose dictates upon Pacquiao do not conform to the ideals of nationalism, Pacquiao’s trail to potentially take the hand of presidency will put him to strict test in the arguments and mockeries of the extremes, even from the centrists.
If ever Pacquiao gets elected to presidency, will the Philippines be undercut technically by the foreign power?
But, this author does not foresee an apocalyptic trend as Pacquiao will be judged by the same limelight that beheld himself in glory. His best for the marginal many will still land on the pages of the newsprints and more so would still be spelled out through the lips of self-glorified prophets of politics, tuning up with praise-building phrases ‘swarming like bees around a cider mill’.
Thus, the power of Pacmanian world and the imminent transfiguration of Malacanang Palace in the years to come, if ever Pacquiao becomes the President of the Philippines, will still be impertinent, even if some of his makings constitute as infringements of the national sovereignty of the Philippines.
Conversely, will the dictates of these lackeys, invisibles and architects or framers of Pacquiao’s thoughts, if ever he captures the presidency, constitute an infringement of the Philippines’ national sovereignty?
One may have possitive thoughts of Pacquiao’s future in politics, which this writer has . At which time, whether Pacquiao still has natural intelligence of a modern ‘tao’ (man), humility and discernment from above, these remain to be seen.
This foreseable issue may just be a matter of perception of the concept of a non-violent form of revolution wherein foreign players take part in the political platform regardless of agenda.
Take it or leave it, nevertheless, Pacquiao has just begun hosting an era of hope and optimism.
