The amount of money that Mayweather and Pacquiao will make if they ever do fight is ridiculous. The combined purse money is worth more than some third world countries. Why this fight hasn’t already been made and done is beyond me. Yes I know, I know, the Olympic blood testing issue. Well that’s just stupid, for these guys to throw away millions because of a few stupid blood tests is almost a crime in itself.
This fight has to happen, it’s the two best fighters in the world. One thinks he is the pound for pound king, and one is the pound for pound king. Pacquiao currently holds the pound for pound king title, and for anyone to question that, they are either blind or stupid. Why some boxing sites and some boxing minds still think Mayweather is the pound for pound king is beyond me.
Yes Mayweather is undefeated and yes he is a great fighter, but he has not defeated the quality of opponents that Pacquiao has defeated. He’s simply just not done more than Pacquiao has in order to claim that title.
Pacquiao has agreed to blood testing, just not within 14 days of the fight. There is what? A 10 day difference here. 10 days is going to throw away this fight? There is something terribly wrong with boxing if it can’t get these two fighters into the ring. The sport needs it, and most of the fans want it.
Almost everyone that I have spoken to in Mississippi want this fight. I have spoken to the state athletic commissioner, the assistant commissioner, the Chief of Officials for Mississippi, the boxing promoters in Mississippi, and to the fans. All of them want to see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. When I went to a movie theater in Pearl, Mississippi to watch Roy Jones vs. Bernard Hopkins, the talk of the theater before and after the fight was Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.
Bob Arum reportedly is working hard as I type this at trying to land this fight. Dallas Cowboy owner Jerry Jones is already positioning himself to land this fight in Dallas, TX. This would be the perfect last dance for both fighters. Or perhaps they would fight, then fight again, then fight again? A trilogy? Wouldn’t that be something? Mayweather vs. Pacquiao should and must happen.
