MANILA, Philippines ? After the delay in the transmission of election results in 2 clustered precincts, Darlene Antonino-Custodio was finally declared as the new mayor of General Santos City (GenSan).
Custodio is the current South Cotabato 1st District Representative under the Achievement with Integrity Movement, which is allied with the Liberal Party.
She defeated ?The People?s Champ? Manny Pacquiao in the 2007 congressional race.
Meantime, the new GenSan vice-mayor Shirlyn Ba?as is from the Nacionalista Party-People?s Champ Movement.
It was said that this year?s election was the most transparent in the history of the GenSan as well as the Philippines.
No one protested the results in GenSan, unlike in previous elections.
