RICKY HATTON wants Amir Khan to dodge the bright lights of Las Vegas and have his next fight in Britain.
Hatton, 31, has rubbished talk of facing his good friend if he decides to resume his ring career later this year.
But the Hitman, who was KO’d by Manny Pacquiao inside two rounds in 2009, does want to work with the WBA light-welterweight champion ? as his PROMOTER.
Hatton told the Manchester Evening News: “There will be a lot of talk of Amir fighting myself, but I would much prefer to promote him.
“And I am certain with my help he can become the big star that his talent deserves.
“I am sure Amir will want to fight in Las Vegas ? it is a tremendous buzz seeing your name in lights on the famous Strip.
“However, my advice would be to have a big fight in England this summer.”
Khan, 23, stopped Paulie Malignaggi in the 11th round as he made his American debut on Saturday night.
The performance was well received by fight fans Stateside and the Bolton puncher’s immediate future appears to lie across the pond.
But Hatton reckons Khan could be swayed by the lure of a bout in one of the UK’s biggest sporting venues.
He added: “Of all the great nights I have had, fighting in front of 58,000 people at the City of Manchester Stadium a couple of years ago is something I’m immensely proud of.
“It will always have a special place in my heart.”
