EXCLUSIVE REPORT from Satellite Reporters in Mindanao, Philippines – While the Commission on Elections (Comelec) has declared failure of national and local elections in seven towns of Lanao del Sur province due to
the absence of the Board of Inspectors from the Commission on Elections, Sarangani province remains peaceful, according to the military information agency.
“Sarangani remains peaceful despite sporadic incidents a week before the elections,” says a military information agent who is monitoring the province of Sarangani and who wants his name undisclosed while reporting to Associated Content. He refered the “sporadic incidents” to the bombing and ambush to which Manny Pacquiao was linked as alledged in the report, that which he calmly denied. “Yes, we have a peaceful elections, so far;but, it looks like the voting might be extended to one more hour, instead of 7 p.m., in some parts of the province due to heavy turn-out of voters this election.”
“People, who were reluctant to vote in the past elections, went out their way to proactively participate in the electoral process, and I now see a lot of young voters actively participating this democratic exercise,” he adds.
The said agent says the congressional derby between Roy Chongbian and Manny Pacquiao is a tight race.
“I also see a huge defensive turn-out favoring Roy Chongbian,” says the military reporter who seems to be excited about the outcome. “And we should know the results before midnight, except those from the far-flung areas of Sarangani.”
As for Kiamba where Pacquiao voted this morning, he says people are exuberant about being able to vote their own “man”, referring to pound-for-pound boxing champion.
