It’s not out of the question.
Recent polls have shown Pacquiao to be in the solid lead for his bid for a congressional seat in the Sarangani Province of the Philippines.
Pacquiao has fans the world over who are interested in learning the outcome of the Philippine elections. One particular concern of Pacquiao fans in Arkansas is for his own safety.
Many feel that the professional boxing ring is a safe-haven compared to the Filipino political ring.
Fil-American, Nino Galibao of Springdale said:
“It’s dangerous to be a politician in the Philippines. I don’t think it’s a good idea for him to go into politics. There are a lot of other things he can do to help people without becoming a congressman.”
That is certainly a good point, but out of good intentions, Pacquiao has pressed on with his most recent foray into politics.
His motivation? To help the poor.
“Because I am fortunate enough to be famous, perhaps as a congressman I can attract bigger businesses to our area and provide more revenues” Pacquiao has told the Philippine media.
Once again, Pacquiao is the underdog.
The Chongbian family has held a solid spot in the Sarangani Province for years. Financially, Roy Chongbian has had no problem competing with Pacquiao on the campaign trail.
He is the “Money” Mayweather of Philippine politics.
However, Pacquiao’s fame has been surprisingly burdensome to his opponent.
Earlier on, Chongbian filed a complaint that was based on the claim that Pacquiao is not a true resident of the Sarangani. The Comittee of Elections ruled in favor of Pacquiao on the issue.
Rnd. 1 was all Pacman.
Political analysts didn’t believe Pacquiao stood a chance against Chongbian.
He might just prove the “experts” wrong, just as he’s done time and time again.

If Pacman succeeds, will he still be the “Fighting Pride of the Philippines”?
More specifically, after knocking out Chongbian, will Congressman Pacquiao accept yet another overwhelming challenge and end up knocking out Floyd Mayweather?
Outside of the Philippines, this is the question that lingers on the minds of boxing fans.
One thing that everyone should know by now is to never, never put anything past Pacquiao, and never, never count him out.
