Los Angeles – The tennis stadium at the Home Depot Center in Carson has become somewhat of a boxing mecca and home away from home from one of the sport’s most feared men Paul Williams.
Williams (Augusta, Georgia – 38 wins, 1 loss, 27 KOs) will be appearing for the third time in the Los Angeles suburb against Kermit Cintron (Houston, Texas – 32 wins, 2 losses, 28 KOs).
Undefeated at the Home Depot, including a watershed victory over Antonio Margarito in 2007, Williams will look to solidify his presence within the ranks of boxing’s pound for pound best on Saturday night.
Though Williams nor Cintron might be household names for the casual fan of boxing, or general sports fan, these two have the offensive capability and high punch output to create a fight of the year type scrap and should be considered a must-see event for fans of the sweet science.
Cintron, whose only defeats were at the hands of Margarito, needs a victory or strong performance against to keep his status as a viable world class junior middleweight deserving of solid paydays and air-time on the biggest of boxing networks.
If tough times have hit your entertainment budget, not to worry as HBO will carry Williams – Cintron on Saturday along with a replay of Shane Mosley’s beating at the hands of Floyd Mayweather.
