Today, May 10, the Philippines conducts its first automated elections in the nation’s history as Filipino voters select its next round of local and national officials.

There has been some early concerns regarding IT controls surrounding the voting process especially in remote, rural areas.
Various watchdogs have expressed early concerns of possible widespread inaccuracies with the voting sheets similar to what happened in the hotly contested 2000 U.S. elections between George W. Bush and Al Gore.
Voting sheets apparently must be completely filled out with oval shadings on the right candidate, and partial shadings may result in a voting error.
For President, the top three candidates are Senator Manny Villar, who is being endorsed by boxing great and congressional candidate Manny Pacquiao, former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada, and front-runner Senator Benigno “NoyNoy” Aquino, son of the late President Corazon “Cory” Aquino.
