SARANGANI, Philippines – Manny Pacquaio does not need to go beyond Sarangani’s historical experience to establish the origins of modern revolution. Even his favorite song, “Sometimes When We Touch”, has touch a
bit of what he is, as a matter of response to the pulse of the voting populace.
Pacquiao is both a concept and inspiration of Sarangani. His call for a radical change in the governance of Saragani is a non-convulsive one. His earnest means to help his own people is no less violent for being legal. His style of pursuit in politics is not even a “play at democracy”. As former President Ferdinand E. Marcos said: “If politicians beg for money of the rich to win the votes of the poor in order to better serve the rich, the result is sham democracy and a glaring poverty in social ethics.”
But, Pacquiao does not add salt to the hypocrisy of radical rhetoric.
