Number one Pound for Pound boxer, Congressman-elect, Manny Pacquiao is the quintessential over achiever. Here’s a guy who doesn’t seem to know the meaning of the word “can’t”. He’s accomplished everything he’s set out to do, and at only 31 years of age, he’s not done yet.
If Pacquiao approaches his political endeavors with the same commitment that he has approached his sport, he won’t be just another congressman, he’ll be a great one. He’s opened the door for other Filipino boxers to compete on the world stage and he has always represented the Philippines in the most positive light.
As the Trackrunners say, Manny Pac (is) reppin’ for the Philippine Islands.
Let’s face it. Pacquiao’s boxing career has been great for the sport. Fans hate to see him retire, but obviously, he’s contributed far more than his fair share to boxing. He deserves the opportunity to move on if that’s what he chooses to do.
His position in congress will give him the opportunity to do things that are even more important than his momentous accomplishments in boxing. The poor people of Sarangani province will agree.
Fight fans dread the day that he hangs up the gloves for good, but fortunately there will be one last hurrah in the ring for the Pacman. All recent reports indicate that it’s probable that Pacquiao will finally face Floyd Mayweather Jr. in November.
Hopefully the negotiations will be short and sweet this time. There has been a gag order for all those involved in the negotiations, and that’s probably a good thing. There’s been enough hype, too many unfounded accusations and a sufficient amount of time for fans to get psyched-up about the fight the world wants to see.
Congressman Pacquiao will represent the Philippine Islands in the ring at least one more time.
The boxing world hopes that the promoters can make the fight that the world is screaming for.
