Based on partial and unofficial tally, the seven world division champion holds a 28,663 lead over Roy Chiongbian for the lone legislative district of Sarangani province.
As of 12:47 a.m. Tuesday, Pacquiao gained 52,023 votes compared to the 23,360 by Chiongbian with 62.96 percent of the election returns canvassed.
But Pacquiao?s Canadian adviser and liaison officer to Top Rank promoter Bob Arum remained cautious and have not yet declared victory for the “People?s Champ”.
“It?s still long way to go. Nothing is final yet,” said Koncz, in an interview by GMANews.TV. “(Manny) has an insurmountable lead but there are still more votes to count. But we are confident that he?ll win.”
Koncz said Pacquiao?s imminent win won?t pose a problem in his ring comeback in November.
“We haven?t agreed on anything yet. We?re still on the negotiating table and discussing things. We?ll see what happen. We haven?t agreed on anything yet.”
Koncz added that if ever Pacquiao decides to fight again this year, the Generals Santos City native needs to sit down with his mother Dionisia to try to convince her for a final bout.
The Pacquiao matriarch has consistently asked his son to retire and even threatened that she?ll gatecrash the Pacman?s next fight.
